Why the background looks clean
The tool separates you from your original background using an image-segmentation model, then paints a solid colour behind you — white by default, with off-white, grey and light blue options for embassies that ask for them. This is far more reliable than trying to shoot against a perfectly white wall at home.
For the cleanest cutout, avoid busy backgrounds and wear something that contrasts with the background you're standing in front of.

Is my photo uploaded to a server?+
No. Both the AI model and your photo run entirely inside your browser. Your face is never uploaded or stored anywhere.
Why does it download something the first time?+
The background-removal AI model (a one-off file) downloads to your browser the first time you use the tool. That's the model code, not your photo — your photo never leaves the device. After the first run it's cached.
What is the Indian passport photo size?+
630 × 810 pixels (35 × 45 mm), JPG, 10 KB to 250 KB, with a plain white background and your head centred. Pick the India preset to target it exactly.
Can I make a US visa or 2×2 inch photo?+
Yes. Switch to the US / Visa preset for a 600 × 600 px (2 × 2 inch) photo.
The cutout isn't perfect around my hair — what can I do?+
Use a photo with a plainer, contrasting background and even lighting. Busy or low-contrast backgrounds make the edges harder for the model to separate.
