The UPSC upload quirks that trip people up
UPSC is stricter than most portals. It accepts only JPG (no PNG, no PDF), wants the face to fill about 75% of a square 350×350 photo, and — unusually — requires your signature drawn three times, one below the other, on a plain white sheet in black ink, saved at 350×150.
This tool handles the sizing for both. Take your triple-signature sheet or your square photo, and it lands the exact pixels and file size UPSC checks for. It won't crop your three signatures — signature mode contains the whole image and pads with white.
How to resize your UPSC photo
Select the Photo tab and add a recent square-ish colour photo with a plain white background and your face filling most of the frame. The tool scales it to exactly 350 × 350 px and compresses to sit between 20 KB and 300 KB. Fill & crop keeps your face centred without white bars.
UPSC wants the face to cover about three-quarters of the image with both ears visible, so crop close before uploading if your original is a full-body shot.
How to prepare the UPSC triple signature
Sign your name three times, one below the other, on a plain white sheet using a black ink pen, leaving a little space between each. Scan or photograph it in even light, then use the Signature tab — it fits the whole sheet to 350 × 150 px and compresses to 20–100 KB without cutting any of the three signatures.
Keep the signatures clear and not in capital letters. A smudged or cramped signature block is the most common reason UPSC signature uploads get flagged.
